We solicited designs between December 2003 and March 2004 for YOnoBI Design
Competition 2004. 5 winners were announced after the screening and YOnoBI
produced the prototypes and displayed them at Interior Lifestyle fair in
Tokyo in June 2004.
Three of those products were exhibited at Ambiente 2005 in Frankfurt,
Germany in February 2005, which was our very first introduction to Europe.

The screening sessions for YOnoBI Design Competition 2004 took place in early April 2004. In the first session, the panel of judges and the manufactures screened all design plans by giving each plan mathematical points.
They then went into discussions, based on the result of the first session, to choose five winners.
Throughout the screening process, all personal information such as names, nationalities and genders were kept anonymous. The viewpoint and opinions of the judges were also valued in the second session, therefore not all winning designs necessarily scored well in the first session.
There were no design plans with absolute superiority and the difference between the winners and the others was not significant. As the design competition aims to commercialize the product, the key points of the screening were to choose...
1.design plans that have great potentials in the future development.
2.design plans that give a good presentation of its concept and commercialization.
